It’s no secret that Goa is one of India’s most popular tourist destinations. However, there is still the question of where to stay. Should we pick a beach side spot so early morning dips aren’t a hassle? Or do you settle down in a little farming village, far from all the noise, so you can at least sleep peacefully?

A good suggestion, especially if you’re travelling with a group, would be to book one of Goa’s many luxury villas. These Unhotels are swanky, convenient, and can give you a sense of seclusion that you just can’t get at a hotel.

Here are five of our favourite options, with lists of what they have to offer. Feel free to comment below if you want something different and we’ll find the best pick just for you!

Azara Beach House, Candolim

The only downside to staying at this ultra-premium ‘Unhotel’ is that it’s a good hour away from Goa’s Dabolim airport. But the closest shoreline (Candolim beach) is a mere five-minute bike ride from the beach house.

Within 30 minutes, you can reach trendy eateries and dance spots like Romeo Lane, Raeeth, Title, and Bo Tai. Azara has beaches and boutiques all along its roads, so you’ll never run out of things to do.

In addition to the private pool, there are four plush bedrooms, one pool-side private chamber, a large common living space, a state-of-the-art kitchen, and a spacey jacuzzi. You’ll be pampered thoroughly regardless of how long you stay.

A full-time staff is on site, including a chef, cleaners, and a coordinator to assist you. The house has bikes for hire, and transportation can be arranged.

Villa Amorzito, Dona Paula

In North Goa, Villa Amorzito features 10 bedrooms, its own pool (and spectacular pool-side seating), a gym, and a la carte breakfasts. The villa has a cook available, should you want to eat in instead of out, and who could blame you for wanting to spend every second in it?

Conde Nast Traveller has featured Villa Amorzito as a place that lets you “let go in any way possible.” Need we say more?

Just 5 km away from Panjim, the culture and architecture that North Goa is famed for are easily accessible.

It’s a 15-minute drive to the Fontainhas, Goa’s Latin quarter, where Portuguese tile stores, quaint restaurants, art galleries, and whitewashed chapels are located. Arguably Goa’s fanciest movie theatre is equally close, as are any number of casinos and water-front restaurants.

Estate De Escobar, Assagaon

It is located in one of the quieter areas of North Goa, offering solitude and seclusion, while the party culture is just a few minutes away at all times.

However, you don’t need to step outside. Having your own party within the premises is imminently possible with five bedrooms, two dining areas, a terrace bar, quaint living spaces, a fully-furnished kitchen and sprawling lawns.

Again, it’s about an hour’s drive from the airport, but Goa’s scenic, winding roads make it easy.

Within cycling distance are the “Yog Ved Shala’’ (yoga instruction centre), the Cheshire Cat Jewelry Gallery, Goan-style cooking classes, etc. Make the most of Assagao!

Sacri Borod Hill 8, Mandrem

Sculpted with a distinctive Mediterranean touch and luxury in every corner, Sacri Borod Hill 8 overlooks the Arabian Sea. All five luxury rooms, the private pool, the game room, and the nearby beach are in excellent condition.

The closest beaches are Ashwem and Mandrem (both about 5 km away), with Ashwem being the most private.

The airport is a solid 2 hours away, but you could perhaps catch a meal at Joet’s Bar and Restaurant (bang on the beach and with delectable Goan options), Vasco Square Restaurant (with dazzling reviews) or at any number of five-star joints.

Let us know your food preferences and we’ll recommend a restaurant on the way.

Villa Azura, North Goa

This three-story villa isn’t here to play! Villa Azure has much to offer, including a direct view of the Arabian Sea, a greenhouse on the premises, glass sliding doors to the water, and private patios to enjoy the pool and garden.

With Club Cabana, SinQ, and Tito’s all in North Goa, the party animals are sure to have a good time.

The manager on call ensures that guests get the most out of their holiday. You get laundry, ironing, parking, and high-speed Wi-Fi. The only thing you need to worry about is getting there!

If you like the sound of any of the places listed above, send us a message and we can curate the best experience for your next Goan sojourn!
